Dear CSSA Representatives, We are pleased to provide you with information on the 2006 U.S. Foreign Policy Colloquium (FPC). The program, now in its fourth year, is for students from the PRC who are currently enrolled in graduate programs at American universities. We hope that you will help us by posting the attached flyer on your campus, forwarding this message to your CSSA’s BBS or listserv, and informing the Chinese community in your university and beyond. The U.S. Foreign Policy Colloquium is a three-day, in-depth examination of American foreign policy that will feature many exciting, knowledgeable speakers: speakers in the past have included Senator Chuck Hagel, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former U.S. Trade Representative Carla Hills, former Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, former U.S. Ambassador to China James Sasser, and Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky. We are once again inviting both current and former Administration officials to this year's FPC. We will post an agenda on our website in the spring; agendas from the 2004 and 2005 programs are currently available online. The Colloquium is comprised of lectures, panel discussions, group exercises, and site visits. It is designed to be informative, but also interactive, with opportunities throughout for dialogue between students and speakers. The FPC will be held at the Elliott School of The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. It will begin with a keynote speech and reception late in the afternoon of Wednesday, June 7 and end with optional sightseeing on the morning of Saturday, June 10. For more details, please refer to the attached flyer and our website (http://www.ncuscr.org/FPC/FPChome.htm). We hope you will distribute the attached flyer as widely as possible since the program depends on the participation of enthusiastic and qualified students. We would appreciate your helping us publicize the 2006 FPC by sharing this information with students in your association and with Chinese graduate student organizations in other universities. We encourage students from any academic discipline to apply. Competence in spoken English is required. Those who participated in the 2003, 2004, or 2005 FPC are NOT eligible to participate again. An online application form will be available on February 15, please check our website at that time to access the online form. All applications must be submitted using the online form; we will not accept mailed or faxed application forms. Application materials and additional information about submission are available at the following URL: http://www.ncuscr.org/FPC/fpc_application.htm.
